Build a freight yard, industrial hardstand, roadway, car park or similar load-carrying pavements with our commercial range of 80mm thick interlocking pavers...... In Australia the use of interlocking concrete pavers has grown considerably over the past 30 years. Engineers specify 80mm interlocking pavers for high use traffic areas and areas subjected to heavy axle loads. Although aesthetic appeal is a consideration, interlocking pavers are usually specified for industrial pavements because of their proven load carrying capabilities which result in an extended life span Interlocking pavers are strong and have an average compressive strength of 45 mpa, all pavers comply with the requirements of AS/NZS 4455:1997.
Key Benefits of Paving:
- Lower maintenance costs
- Longer life span
- Flexible, services can still be accessed
- Resistant to point loads of over 100 tonnes
- Resistant to heat, fuel stains etc
- Attractive (colour can be integrated into any design)
- Easy to repair (No cutting, sawing or unsightly patchwork)
- Skid resistant providing a safer pavement
Island Block and Paving specialize in industrial paving projects. The company has supplied some of the largest projects within the state including the largest ever interlocking paving project of 20,000 M2 (approx 700,000 pavers) at the Bell Bay wharf at Georgetown in 1994.
As members of the Concrete Masonry Association of Australia, Island Block and Paving can assist with pavement designs and have access to the LOCKPAVE computer design program for industrial pavements. Interlocking pavers have many advantages over both concrete and ashpalt when subjected to heavy vehicle loads, primarily because their unique interlocking characteristics result in a strong pavement that is durable and most importantly not effected by extreme heat.
