The Carbon Neutral masonry range by Island Block & Paving is a premium collection, manufactured using high-quality engineered glass sand containing 37.6% recycled content. Certified annually as Carbon Neutral by Global GreenTag, this range offers architects and designers peace of mind through third-party verified environmental claims.
Carbon Neutral products are achieved through sustainable manufacturing techniques. 24-hour nil energy curing is implemented due to powering by a 100kw solar farm, captured site water and cement replacements are utilized. 37.6% recycled glass content is used in manufacture replacing natural mined resources such as quartz sand. The combined use of finely crushed recycled glass, cement replacements and low energy curing contributes to industry low CO2 emissions. Island Block & Paving are the first and only Australian masonry company to achieve the net zero milestone across the entire sustainable product range. The Carbon Neutral products have industry low carbon emissions of 114.9 CO2e per tonne which is 73% lower carbon emissions than some clay manufactures.
Available in a variety of high-end finishes including exposed aggregate, refined, and polished, these masonry products offer exceptional versatility for modern architectural design. Every product in the range is manufactured under strict quality control and is ISO 9001:2015 certified. To ensure longevity of colour all Carbon Neutral bricks, building blocks, pavers, and retaining walls are made with Tech-Dry water-repellent additives which result in a CWA (cold water absorption) of less than 3%. This process provides colour enhanced, stain-resistant products suitable for Australia’s climate.

A Tech-Dry mortar additive is supplied to create water-repellent mortar joints to establish a totally water-repellent wall. Carbon Neutral blocks are the only accepted industry product that is “waterproof against wind-driven rain’’ as per CSIRO Tech-Dry test results. Testing includes CSIRO test to ASTM E514-90 “Standard Test Method for Water Penetration and Leakage Through Masonry”.
