Certified annually as Carbon Neutral and GreenRate Level A, with all environmental claims independently verified by Global GreenTag.

Our process includes:

• Sustainable Manufacturing with 24-hour nil-energy curing, enabled by our 100 kW solar farm
• Captured site water in production
• Cement replacements to reduce embodied carbon
• 37.6% recycled glass replacing mined quartz sand
• Low-energy curing, recycled glass, and cement replacements contribute to industry-low CO₂ emissions.

First in Australia (and still the only one)

Island Block & Paving is the first and only Australian masonry company to achieve both Global GreenTag GreenRate Level A and Carbon Neutral (net-zero) status across our entire sustainable product range of bricks, building blocks, pavers and retaining walls.

Measured outcomes:

• 114.9 kg CO₂e per tonne of product—up to 73% lower than some masonry manufacturers.
  
• On average over 50% lower than clay manufacturers (data from published EPD’s.)
• Green Building Council, “Best Practice” rating generates 25 points with IBP specifications

Offsets, verification & certificates

Any remaining annual emissions are offset via carbon credits, supporting projects such as Greenfleet’s reforestation projects.
All offsets and claims are third-party verified annually through Global GreenTag’s CarbonRate program, with a compliant Carbon Neutral certificate issued each year.

With a Product Stewardship policy supporting a circular economy and a long-term emission reduction plan extending to 2050, we’re committed to continual environmental improvement.

• Delivers CWA (cold-water absorption) < 3%
