Reinforced Block Walls
Reinforced Concrete Block Retaining Walls are a convenient way of building vertical retaining walls.
These walls consist of an engineer designed reinforced concrete footing to anchor the wall against overturning and a wall of concrete blocks filled with a concrete grout mix. The block wall is reinforced with steel bars both vertically and horizontally.
Island Block & Paving provide four options for reinforced concrete block walls as listed below.
Concrete Building Blocks- To be laid on 10mm of mortar by a bricklayer, available in Natural, Lightweight, Coloured and Tech Dry Water Repellent types. Sizes include, 140mm, 190mm, 240mm and 290mm width blocks in various sizes, colours and surface finishes including smooth, exposed, and refined. All coloured blocks in all types are made with Tech Dry water repellent additives to prevent efflorescence and staining.
DIY Wall Blocks- Do it yourself, easy to use with self-locating connections like “lego” blocks. Ideal as a substitute for concrete blocks laid on mortar. Wherever concrete building blocks are used, the DIY Walls Blocks can be used instead. Available in Lightweight or Coloured options. DIY Wall Blocks can incorporate Fence posts within due to the large core sizes. Engineering available.
Freestone ECO Retaining Wall Blocks– Do it yourself, the vertical, large sized hollow blocks self-locate and allow for steel reinforcing. Freestone ECO walls are suitable for most retaining wall situations including civil, commercial, and residential walls. Blocks are manufactured with an engineered sand containing glass aggregates which provide exclusive surface finishes that glisten in light.
Freestone Rockface Retaining Wall Blocks- Do it yourself with self-locating connections. The Freestone Rockface Retaining Wall System is a lightweight, textured finish retaining wall block which resembles reconstructed sandstone. Freestone Rockface blocks replace the Tasman Retaining Wall system and are suitable for retaining walls up to 2.5 metres high. The Freestone Rockface Wall system can be used for almost any project size.
Designers, tradespeople, or homeowners can select the block type dependent on, colour texture and the specific retaining wall height required.
